Had 2 at 30.25" for my biggest — lost a huge one that would've trumped the others I caught,
It was pretty darn nice overnight stay though, really warm and wet and the tide back to French bay launch to load up and leave.

Or even start a new thread containing a tutorial on the process of holding fish for pictures.

Nope ice is melted away. Bring the boat. Jk ... Ice is still 20 inches solid black ice. Some surface water but that should be frozen right up in gone next few days. Bring cleats... Or skates cuz it will be very icy if we don't get snow!

Anyone heading to cold tomorrow (Sat) be careful if heading anywhere near the center of the lake . I went over a crack that must of opened up this morning or last night running east - west for as far as i could see in both directions with my binoculars. It was between 18 inches and 3ft wide and i could break it with my boot. Scared the hell out of me as i went over it, with the snow cover it was very hard to see, turning round and getting back over it was a bit interesting ... Red circle on my gps shows approx location when i went over it.

And that is the very reason why I bring 2 sets of tire chains and a set of folding quad ramps with me on the lake every time. I can only imagine the pucker factor on that one, stay safe on the ice this weekend, no fish is worth going swimming for.

"puker factor"? more like an "explosive release" ...... that's 5 km from shore in any direction in water 200-250 feet deep. You go in and nobody every finds you. WOW.
There would be spray on the headliner if I went over that ....... WOW .... I'm glad you posted that. It's a very good reminder to all of us who travel on the ice.

I flew over Cold Lake today in a helicopter. A few freaky and lengthy cracks in different spots. I too would be cautious driving on that lake too far from shore.

Agreed!
It was a fun time had by all!
I caught my first laker! She was 69cm so a bit shy of the size limit!
