I'd have to agree. not something I'd want to drag around on the ice without motorized assistance. I have bootlace assistance.

I bought the 33cc Stingray 8". It works great so far this year. We'll have to wait to see how it works towards the end of the season but so far I'm really happy with it. I'd save yor money for things like gas to drive to the lake!

No I would have bought a 33cc model as it will churn thru the ice no problem in an 8 inch.
Buddy runs the 51cc 10 inch and it churns thru the ice. I am using his old 33cc Eskimo 8 inch and I can go thru the ice no problem and like the weight savings and ease of use of the 33cc as it is not a bear to handle. But then again I am not as physically capable as I once was.
Either way, you bought a good auger and if you plan on upgrading to a 10 inch flight you have an engine that will handle it no problem.

Great auger, cuts incredibly fast, doesn't use much fuel, starts good in cold weather, 5 stars.
even weight isn't a issue, as I throw it up on my shoulder while walking.

2 pulls!
Gave her a drink and she purred like a kitten, been a long wait ive been drilling them by hand for 20 years so im like a little boy at chistmas, the weight difference is 4 pounds from the stingray and the difference in price was 50 bucks, ill try her out tomorrow and put up some pics.

I like my strikemaster 4 stroke with the Honda engine. Lite, quiet and custs reasonably fast.
I'm sure that the z51 is good though, just heard of lots of guys pulling the cord out.

I have one.
I quite like it. Had to replace the weak pull cord once and wind up the spring after. No biggie.
As for lugging it around, I have a truck and a sled. If I'm hiking in, I use the hand auger, well I don't but I could, hah.
