Default Had to do a Bit of Sewing

It's not pretty and is a little out of wack, but at least it's one piece now....lol. I was skinning a big male coyote the other night and it ripped across the belly from kidney to kidney. It's better than sending in a half a pelt I guess.

Hahaha I had to do a bit less than you Dave. I shot one with my 300wsm. It hit the ribcage and only made a hole about 1"x3". The bullet mustn't have hit anything to solid. I figured it would have really damaged the pelt. But it looked pretty good.

Default I know how you feel.

I was playing 'seamstress' last night. If anyone tells you a 22-250 wont do damage to a pelt, they're a liar. I'm usually very, very careful to only take shots that wont mess up the pelt, but this was a follow-up shot and I was in a panic as I watched her limp off across what I thought was thin ice. As I soon found out, the ice was 6" thick and there was no urgency at all to the situation... but that's how she goes I guess.

Probably not even worth the time it took to sew her, but it was my punishment to myself for not waiting for a proper broadside shot lol

Just above the middle joint (next one up from the paw joint) where the tendon for the back of the leg attaches......the hamstring? One leg ended up longer than the other on the pelt.....lol.

Thanks, but it's not really a good job. I did it pretty fast and just wanted to get it back in one piece quickly. That's about the best that I can say about it.

I just use the mesh to hold the ears in place while they dry. I use a staple gun rather than tacks, so I just put one staple in the middle of the mesh and it does the trick.
