I don't like the current system because you have to leave the animal sitting there while you organise a permit.
If they gave out roadkill tags, say $10 for deer and $20 for moose, even if you took the deer for dog food, you'd be saving them from having to drag it off the roadway.
They'd sell 1000s of tags a year making it a good earner.
No one is going to chase down and run over a deer / moose because they have a tag.

Not worth purposely hitting an animal aha

As far as I can tell, the only point youv'e made is that you don't know what your talking about and obviously don't have much experiance behind the wheel. Good thing you only drive in the city. Hate to meet you on the road when you swerve into oncomming traffic to avoid a squirrel.

I got hit by a buck on red route in my Cherokee during the wainright hunt- i was doing 55KM, NO chance to avid and he hit me it the right front quarter panel.
***** happens and it cannot be avoided much of the time when animals are involved.
Anybody who says it can has not had any close encounters.
I know people who have had moose take their mirrors off, ran into them when they were going slower than I, and narrowly missed them because they were driving a bit faster than normal, otherwise the animal would have hit them.
I also know people who have =had windshields taken out by birds.

I hit a young dear on my road last winter. Not going fast, circa 50km but the road was icy and not much I could do except a slight swerve. It happens faster than one would think. Shook me up a little thinking if that was someone's kid - although for a kid you would put your truck in the ditch if there was time.
Interesting thing was I got out the vehicle and could see the deer laying on the shoulder still breathing so I got my knife thinking to slit its throat. When I got a closer hold of it I patted it a couple of times as way of apology and the little fella tried to stand up. I gave it a hand, rubbed it down some, blew some warm air into its nose (mum was near bye and blowing some) and after a few minutes the deer walked off. I went back the next morning to see if the tracks went far, half expecting to find a dead deer but after a couple of hundred yards in snow I gave up.

HAHA!! Good on you for that It never amazes me how we as hunters will go to great lengths to help a critter out that is in trouble , be it ducks , deer or moose in trouble etc, then think nothing of putting a hole in the same animal later!!

Since someone apologized for the derail and I'm not wasting ink, only energy, I have another question: would you believe $250???

Your advice is always appreciate it and I have much to learn from you.
Here is a couple of pictures of the same buck.

I agree. One of the many reasons why we call ourselves hunters and sportsmen.
