Default Gap Lake east of Canmore

Heard there are some monster browns and whitefish in Gap Lake east of Canmore.

Anyone been out there recently?

What is the access? Can you drive up to it...or is it going to be a hike along the railroad tracks on the south side?

What's the access where the Bow (or whatever it is) runs into it?

Bears?

I don't have my fly pole with me. Spinners? Spoons? What would you throw at them from shore? Color?

Thanks

That lake is somewhat big, never tried it. But there's parking and you probably need a boat. Ask the locals but from what I heard it will take a long time to hook a monster. Maybe wait before ice on, they should go to the shallows for food. Try Grotto Pond, just east of it, and is connected to the bow, I've seen stocked rainbows, browns and whites. Better off trying there or down in Kananaskis Country

There is good access along one side with picnic tables and a boat launch. I have fished it from shore and a float tube but only ran into some small ones. I was using a fly rod with small nymphs.

Spent a few hours there this past summer with my small boat.

Put in about 6 hrs. and was rewarded with a small white fish.

Actually did not notice many on the finder, my thoughts are the flooding last year has changed things at Gap at least for this year.

There is a channel runs down the middle and it is about 8FOW at the deepest, and that seems to be where the fish were hanging out. A few risers but nothing to make me want to go back again any time soon.

I do not know where you get off suggesting to anyone that Gap is somewhat big.

If it is more than 700 meters long and 400 wide than maybe that is somewhat big. Please do not comment on something you know nothing about you are doing no one any favours,

Gap Lake for sure is small, if you have a boat with electrical trolling motor, troll the outer edges with a bumble bee or drangonfly pattern, awesome!

Please don't help this guy out, he is banned after attacking multiple posters and has been banned from a facebook group for the same thing.

Bye bucksibuck, can't say I am going to miss you... Next time maybe you will realize you should be nice to other people if you want them to help you...
