Default Slugs through an O/U for animal defence?

Hey Guys
I know this is sacrilege but I'm thinking carrying a few slugs for my 20g Browning Citori. The other day I had a run in while grouse hunting with 3 coyotes. They showed no fear even when I fired the birdshot off. If I run into a predator it might be nice to have something with some reach. What are your thoughts on it? Safe for the gun?

I zero m shotguns with slugs just in case we run into a coyote or two that are bent on doing damage to the bird dogs.
The majority IC my guns are open choked with the exception of one 16 and my 28 which are I/C- Mod
No issues

Nope it won't!
SSG= OO buck, or there abouts, taint never been such a load in 20ga either.

I tried to roll up a coyote with a load of Imperial 2-3/4" 12 ga SSG's at a wopping 37 yds( paced off), I saw the hair part in 4 distinct places on that song dog, never found him, he lit out into a standing wheat field, so don't brag about buckshots wonders, it isn't all that nor a bag of chips. Inside 25 yards it's devastating, but 40 yards is pushing your luck IMO.

Using Foster style slugs will be no problem in your shotgun, except that the POI between the barrels may vary quite a bit.

shoot a few through each barrel to see where they hit first but should work out at short range
