There are a lot better options out there, depending on your needs.

Probably a good decision. They aren't that bad of a starting point, if put together by the right smith. But for that kind of coin you could build something exactly as you want... Starting with a better action.

I know this is a 4 year old thread, but I'm thinking of buying one of their actions for a build. Just curious if there is any "GOOD" reviews of late on them as opposed to all the negative ones from 4 years ago?

I've handled two rifles built with Montana actions. Observations of these added to the experiences of others that I trust compell me to take a pass.

If you want the features of a Model 70, which the Montana is a replicate of, a new FN Model 70 is a better action IMHO....assuming you can't find a suitable Pre'64 Model 70, assuming you can live with a blued action.

The fun is in the experiment. Buy it and build it.

I'm trying to avoid being stuck with a bunch of parts I don't need by sacrificing a rifle. Call me crazy but I have enough junk laying around that I "thought" I'd use.... Why do you think the FN action is better?
