Sureshot didn't misrepresent what he shot.

We have a target with 4 rounds touching and 1 flyer, for a 5 shot group.
Four shots are within .3" of each other and evidently Sureshot under-reported the size of that cluster.

The aggregate, taken as a whole, is exceptional shooting out of a hunting rifle, and a sign of good load development and good bench technique.

Exactly....if we want to break it down his 4 shots are 0.654 outer to outer not center to center....which make it 0.37 inches.

He just picked up that rifle and this was his second or third test load from the rifle. Let's cut the guy some slack on the semantics....

Worked OK in he field where things are never like the Range, but the 30BR did the job at 180M. Decent 4 X 5 WT buck. Pulled off the barrel after Xmas and decided to re-chamber to 6.5 X 47L with a #2 Krieger. It should come in about 8 lbs and I may use it for deer next fall.

Time to get your hunting rigs out so why not give this CHALLENGE a whirl? I have a couple of 6.5 X 47 Lapua's to try. Been playing a bit with my "close range" rig...load testing hunting bullets in a number 2 Krieger with a scope, before I saddle it with a red dot. My "longer range" '47 Lapua has a number 3 Krieger .... Need a bit of cooler weather (or just a bit more patience) to get 5 shots down those skinny barrels before they get too toasty.

Tonight after the formal club match, I had the range to myself and
blasted a 4L milk jug and a 2L milk carton.

First shot centre hits: the carton from seated on the ground off the knees from about 80yds; the jug offhand at about 110yds.

Water gushers courtesy of my skinny 260Rem deer rifle.

Decided to "jump" some Berger 130 VLD (H) 's to see how they would shoot compared with a bit of "jamb" in my carry rifle for this fall. They do shoot a bit better jambed, but these will be good enough by the looks of my deer shot at 100M this AM. Red dot going on this one today.
Stiller Predator action, Krieger #2 CM 1:8 twist cut to 23" and chambered to 6.5 X 47L by Henry Rempel, B & C Medalist sporter stock.

What bottom metal did you use? How does the 6.5x47 feed from the mag.

Rem 700 hinge plate works well and feeds without issue, even when cycled fast. I tried Rem 700 bottom metal with a detach mag (in an HS sporter stock) but the top round kept popping out, so rather than tinker with bending the lips, I just went with the hinged plate. The detach mag should work. The one I tried is an aftermarket version I bought years ago and the follower is different than the ones in stock Rem's. Think I will try a different follower as I would prefer the detach mag system in the HS stock.
With a bit of jamb, the 130's agg about 1/2 MOA.

Did some tinkering with the detach mag and resolved the "pop out's". Problem was the little flanges that are punched inward to stop the follower from going too high ... were not deep enough. Nothing popped out, but the bolt failed to pick up the rim a few times. I can see the fix, but it is not worth the effort. Box mag in the hinged floorplate will be OK.
With the red dot, the rig weighs 7.4 lbs. and has a muzzle diameter of 0.6". And a correction on barrel length, it is 24".
Hope to get started doing some load testing for my longer range (scoped) '47L soon as I have a couple of 6 Dasher barrels that will be sent for chambering on the BAT action.

What better time to do the CHALLENGE than a nice breezy day - this time with my "longer range" deer rifle. BAT action with a #3 Krieger Barrel 1:8 twist cut to 25" and chambered by Henry Rempel to 6.5 X 47 Lapua. Standard Rem 700 hinged floorplate with box magazine.
Barrel is coming off soon and Henry will chambering a couple of 6 Dashers ... but I will reinstall the '47 for deer.
