Not to be a smart aleck , but the words "daughter" & "300 RUM" do not ever belong in the same sentence.

For the money you are going to pay for a brake, why don't you just buy her a cheap rifle in 243 or something?

Keep in mind that muzzle blast is a big contributor to flinching too.

For $30 you won't regret it. I like them better than the pachmyer that comes on the Weatherby Accumarks or the ones used by Cooper on their Bell and Carlson stocks.

As for recoil pads, they are both good, but the Limbsaver is nice and squishy.

A Limbsaver and a Mercury suppressor in the stock will reduce the recoil as much as a break and you don't get the muzzle blast and noise. It is what I did to my 7 RUM and the improvement was very noticeable. Up till then it was the most vicious kicking gun I had ever shot and I own stuff all the way up past the 460. The 460 is the only gun I have that has a brake and you MUST wear ear protection, plugs and muffs both at the same time, any time you shoot it.

Now that we know the full story we can stop the abuse about " get her a different gun !" LOL .. Nice to hear that a girl wants to step up her game and try something new . That said ,a limbasaver works well and worth the coin .

Thanks for telling us because I was thinking that Social Services needed to start an investigation into possible child abuse

Start with the Limbsaver and if it's not enough go to the mercury suppressor.

Forget the muzzle brake.

I have a Limbsaver on my 458WM and I wont say it tamed it but it did take a lot of the felt recoil away, deffenetly worth the $40

Default thanks

just got intouch with a gunsmith he says lets go mercury suppressor and limb saver first then if it aint enuff muzzle break last choice so im happy with that for the simple reason i dont want her to develop a flinch after all the ammo weve used getting to where she is now lol shes giving me a run for my money at range now with her 30 06 so im pretty confident she can handle rum if i can take little bit of recoil off it thanks for your input guys

Limb saver and mercury suppressor then you could try Remington managed recoil ammo for her. Then go up to the more powerful loads once she gets used to it.

I'm sorta with you on that one. A limbsaver does cut recoil (I've got one on one of my rifles), but not that much. Muzzle break will do a litte more, but up the noise, which to my way of thinking has negative effects on its own. Get your daughter a "sensible" caliber that she can use unaltered.

Default Limbsaver

Limbsaver pads certainly take up the recoil but ensure you have enough eye relief on your scope. When they squish up against your shoulder the scope moves that much closer to your face.

Speaking from experience with a magnum muzzleloader and an improper shooting position which had me creeping my face up the stock.
