Tannerite

Got a call today advising that tannerite is being sold by a local (Edm) retailer and wondering it could be used at SPFGA Range. Answer is "No" ... pending consideration by Exec which will likely take place in late Aug/Sept. Any info regarding the use of this substance at other Ranges?

The only place it could potentially be used at SPFGA is by attaching it to a backstop....that would require replacing backstops 100 times faster than normal....more destructive than bird shot at the 25 yard target back stop

I've never used it and do not know much about it. Wouldn't it make a mess with pieces of plastic container to pick up after?

The containers I saw only blew out the side.
the problem however, is that many will not pick that stuff up afterwards, and Lord knows what else they will stick the stuff into to blow it up!

"Tannerite Banned" notice will be posted at SPFGA Sign-in kiosk. Exec will be polled regarding final disposition. If reactions posted here are representative of the way tannerite will be treated at approved ranges, sales will be pretty slow. I can imagine the response the use of tannerite will get if used on crown land?
