How do you get Alliant powder right now?
Hi guys. Just curious how you guys are getting ur paws on Alliant powders during this shortage. Mostly 2400 and Reloader 22.
I have exhausted all the stores I can think of.
Has anyone been ordering online? If so can you please elaborate with the details and success/ costs or your order and who it was from?
Thanks

I bought my last 5 pounds of R-22 online out of Quebec for $205 delivered. If you want to find some ,expand your search to more than just local stores.

Elk
Cabelas in Edmonton had 8 lbs of Varget for $220 on their powder sheet last week. If the Reloader works real well the $13 a pound price difference isn't all that big a deal; spread over 100+ rounds it only amounts to 13 cents per shot.
That said, and while I agree a guy should never get down to his last pound before buying more, Alliant powders are so much harder to locate I have given up on them and pretty much stuck to stuff Higginson carries. At least he will fill back orders and you get what you need eventually.
For the average reloader that can only afford to have a couple of pounds around at a time, IMR/Hogdon is far more commonly available in local stores. Availability of supply still plays a role in what I want to buy and use.

Kodiak lake outfitters in Barrhead usually have reloader 22.

Between myself, and a few other AO members, we have managed to find several sources of R-22,and we have shared the information, so that we have all been able to keep our supplies at comfortable levels, but I will be the first to admit, that it takes more effort, than with the IMR/Hodgdon powders. I actually purchased over 20lbs of R-22 this year, even though I only kept 5lbs for myself, the rest went to friends and a couple of AO members. I also use R-7 and R-10X, and I have found them much easier to find than R-22. I recommend to any person starting out in reloading, to see what is available in reasonable amounts, before choosing powders to do their load testing.

I just purchased more R-10X this morning, and another person purchased some R-17 at the same store. Some stores are receiving stock of Alliant powder.

Thanks guys but RL 22 is what I have load developed for my rifle 4 years ago and it provides the fastest speeds out of my 7mm RM of all the powders I tried. My load of 70.0 gr. with berger 140gr Hunting VLD bullets also match my scopes ballistic reticle perfectly out to 700m so I'm only going to change to something else if I absolutely have to.
IMR is available everywhere but cant give me the speeds I need/want/crave
I guess for pistol it really doesn't matter since I'm just punching paper.
Thanks everyone for the tips where to look. If anyone is looking into a group order in the near future please pm me. Id be interested in getting around 5 pounds.

It is getting hard to find it that's for sure. I stumbled across 2# for a buddy in Colorado who couldn't find any.
