Default Well water issues - hard water

We need to find someone who deals with well water issues. We have hard water with iron. Does anyone know someone local to the Grande Prairie area? We are out west of GP by Demmit Thanks
Sue

BTDT, For best results you're best off to pump into a cistern and aireate continuesly with a small air compressor and defuser in the bottom of the cister to have most of the iron settle out and then pump trough a Iron filter(birm media) and finally a softener.
Avoid Big Iron like the plague and avoid a green sand iron filter with potash regen unless you have also manganese
Talk to "Water group" in Saskatoon ,they sell trough Bartle & Gibson.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. Sounds like a lot of work. We have Stan the Water Man looking at the water test done when we bought last fall. There is an old Big Iron system in the house, not used for years and hooped. Took them 3.5 months to return a call so they are already off our list!
Looked for Water Group on google and couldn't find anything

Smile Some advice.

I don't think with all the chemistry sets in the world you can do much with some Alberta well water. After many disappointments, I gave up.

I would put 1 gallon of bleach down the well to keep the iron in solution so it wouldn't stain our shower or washer. I'd do that as necessary.

We bought our drinking water from co-op in bulk.

Put in a dug out and be done with the well water. Far less grief and cost.
