Bow fishing
Has anyone heard of any places to bowfish carp in Alberta ! I've been to Sask a few times with my two sons and they loved it ! Long trip though but worth every minute ! Any info would be much appreciated !

Not much for carp or blowfish in this province.
You could target suckers in the shallows when they spawn.
A bit of searching will turn up some info on this forum wrt bow fishing.
Also, check the reg's.

Doesn't Wayne Christie Bow fish as salvage in canals? Try PM'ing him, he's a member on here with a thread a few posts down.

Ive gotten some decent whitefish in the canals at the right time and the right place, but it doesnt always work out. I do know of one res thats supposed to be full of carp up to a good size, may check it out when it opens, or not, sturgeon are way more fun

cant fish for those ones, its Ill eagle. maybe tell them you were shooting at pigeons and the arrow just happened to land in a fish!

Spearfishing with a willow branch or a broken golf club may be ok though

no carp bowfishing in Alberta. The carp are place in the irigation systems to keep the weeds down ... not for sportfishing.

there is a reservoir full of carp because the so called sterile carp werent and bred, now they are a big problem, some have been netted up to 8 pounds. Ive heard they were so thick in the canal leading to the res that a dog couldnt even swim in it. I thhnk they could use some thinning out

Thanks for the info guys ! The carp are a huge problem in south Saskatchewan ! They're out of control ! They're mopping up all the gamefish eggs ! I know this because I have an uncle that has worked for the fisheries in Sask for most of his career ! I only hope that does not happen here ! We have taken several carp ranging from 12-20 lbs ! I gotta say , it's great family fun !

I would love to try bowfishing some carp, looks like a lot of fun. I bowfish here but it's very limited opportunities due to the regulations.

Im going to ask the biologist about the res Im talking about Monday night and see what he thinks about bowfishing them
