Default LOOKING for advice? value?

Winchester Model "92
44 wcf
Serial Number 901xxx

I was given this gun. I would like to know if it has value or if it is just one of the cattle.

Checked the serial number on line and only see the Cody paper, placing it approx 1918 or 1919 date of manufacture. I have no experience with the old guns.

I took it to gunsmith to see if it was in good shape to shoot, it was cleaned and checked over, the rear stalk needed to be redone so I had it done. Prob not the right choice according to some, but I actually wanted to try shooting it and was told that to ensure it was in fact safe to shoot, it needed it.

So I brought it home and sat it in safe. Still have not shot it since.

Values all over the place on interweb WTHeck.

Any ideas?

Thanks Delvin

My opinion would be in the $500 dollar range.still have one i bought years ago from millarm,it was chromed, maybe some type of presentation rifle,5 shots in a playing card at 100 yds iron sights, not bad i thought, ammo readily available, nice old gun go and have some fun, hang on to it.
