Talking 13 inches of ice

Was out on coal lake this morning, -30c. drove out on the ice with my 2500HD
Measured 13 in off ice. Lots of little perch swarming around the hooks, but nothing to take home. Most lakes should be good to drive on now!

That is where you are completely wrong. Coal lake is small and not so deep. Lakes like Sylvan and Pigeon only have 8-9 inches max. Even a lake like Gull that is about 12 inches still varies and the ice is heaving and moving about this time of year. This weather will make some good ice but it will still take some time.

Drove out on Gull today, as well did a crap load of other big heavy diesel trucks. The permanent huts are out already. Was a very productive Slay day today, even landed a 10.5 inch perch. Lots of missed takes on whites but managed to bring home 4 nice ones.... biggest 19 ish inches. Report to follow later after some rest, lol

Was Gull murky like it was last year? I hate it when you can't see the bottom and last year was horrible.

Thanks Mudder Man. Why is it that that lake is always murky. It was good a few years ago but it has really sucked the last couple years. Hard to catch those whites if you can't see them.
