no more a-max in 52 gr?
in another thread h380 mentions that hornaday isn't currently making the 52 gr a-max. i've been using it exclusively in my 22-250 and really hate to see it go.
does anyone have experience with the 53 gr v-max? wud u venture a guess (experienced one, preferrably) as to how the 52 a-max and 53 gr v-max compare?
i think the bc on the 53 v-max is a little better, and have been thinking about it, but the a-max is a tack driver in my t3, so have been reluctant to buy the v-max.

I used to use the a-max also but gave up when I had to search the whole country for them. The 53 gr v-max was designed for the 223. It had something to do with the throught length in that chambering. I have never tried them myself. I switched to the Sierra blitzking.

Hornady has temporarily suspended making certain bullet/caliber combos to keep production on the real popular sellers at peek. There is a list on the website of the ones temporarily suspended .

I used to use the 52gr Amax in my 22-250 exclusively, man was that a great coyote bullet. I did switch to the 40gr vmax for more speed and I like it even more, but there's no flies on the 52gr Amax going 3800fps.

Any ideas how long before things return to normal with bullets and powders? Is there really a problem or do the ammo companies use it to raise prices? Are the ammo companies just as upset?

I've been using 55gr V-Max's in my .223. Tips them over and never an issue getting them so far.

I'm curious H380, do you prefer Amax's because they are more fur friendly or more accurate?

Thanks Lefty. My next unopened box of trial bullets are Blitzkings as Sierra accuracy is difficult to beat.

That makes me even more eager to load them up. Thanks for your input TC. I shot a 'yote at 200+ yesterday, aimed at the shoulder joint, bullet ended up a bit left in the neck. Obviously a full pass thru, exit damage didn't look that bad, but skinning will tell. There was no wind to speak of, and although I'm pleased with the quick dispatch (he didn't spin), the 4" difference isn't where I wanted it to land. Maybe my mirror moved....lol.

Like Lefty said , BOTH ! He got me started on the Amax and I haven't bothered trying to look for anything better . Pin hole in hides and scrambled coyote inside . Very few exits .

OOPS ... Guess I should've told you that . Then again in my experience , shoulders shots on coyotes with any bullets is bad . Some worse than others .
