Default 30-378 Weatherby.

Looking for some starting information of load development for the new toy. Rifle is a 30-378weatherby accumark Lh with removable break.

Anyone out there shooting one? Any particular load that seems to treat you well? Pretty excited to start reloading just got enough brass and finally got my dies.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

shoot a heavy bullet to take advantage of the ballistics that your rifle can offer and by heavy i mean minimum 190 gr. I personally would use a 210 or 230 gr berger vld. Good luck

I would be trying Retumbo or R-25 behind a 180-200gr bullet. I would be extremely careful not to overheat the barrel, as barrel life will be very short, even with proper care.

retumbo works well, as does the RL-25, and H1000...I prefer H 50 BMG, they like all those slow burning powders. I've found this cal to be a true tinker, tinker, tinker kind of thing. A chrono is you new friend, for load development, as I found the speeds you can get out of this caliber will make you giggle like a school girl ( 150 grain MRX BT Barnes, - RL 25 - 3300 f/p/ sec is easy.. )when you look at it. The life of your brass will be cut very short if you like to give them all the oomph it's got. I've got 4 to 5 solid reloads out of my brass before I've seen any indications of problems....but I don't go crazy with it, as the brass cost kills ya after a bit.

my pet deer / coyote load, 180g speer hotcor ,108g/ H 50 BMG, cci mag primer ,....3005 f/p/sec........not crazy, but will shoot a decent clover leaf @ 100 yards, in mine. I've found on these particular bullets when the speed goes much more than 3100 f/p/sec,....accuracy begins to fade. I have a ton of these bullets, that's why I figured this out.....lol.

200g accubonds shine like diamonds in these guns,....with the above listed powders....and again 3000 f/p/sec is easy to obtain, following the nosler book. I cannot wait to try these new bullets of theirs.....

barrel life is short,.....that's why they make more of them every day,....ya don't buy a hot rod to never see smoke outta the wheel wells do ya? That being said, FOLLOW THE LOADS BOOKS, but have fun with it, I love this cal. It puts a smile on my face every time I shoot it.

p.s. ...,I've also never found a coyote that could out run the 208g Hornady A-MAX in my rifle either,......it's to say, at the least, devastating to them.....and deadly accurate...

i shoot 210 bergers, but am anxious to get long range accubonds as i hate the bergers on game, shooting h50bmg around 107grns 4.062 overall length 2950 fps, have had awesome luck keeping it around an inch or less at 160yds. 19.75 moa up and the 900 yd gong is ringing like a bell! . mine is a stock accumark rh , night force on top with near rail and alpha mount

For an easy blow me up deer or moose load the factory 180 noslers work wonders but quite steep at 8 bucks each, keep a box for just that though.
