Interesting!

Whilst, obviously, individual results will vary this data does make for a decent enough comparison. This also helps to answer a question or two I had on my mind just the other day... Thanks for posting this information.

Cheers!

Yes, I thought it was usefull information because it is based on a comparisons of bullet performance in the same media. Hunters have long known that bullet performance is often difficult to compare as they can act differently as they contact bone, firm flesh, liquid (gut).....
Penetration really comes into play on quarting away shots...or "texas heart shots".

I did my own bullet penetration test on a few calibers. They were shot in a box of wet paper. I realize the gel simulates the true behaviour closer, but I was looking for comparisons.

My whole findings are in a pps report which I can not post, but here is a snap shot that shows penetration, weight retention and mushroom diamter for my 6.5-284 Norma. All were shot at 100 yards. My favorite is and will be the Swift Sciroco II as the best bullet that has it all.

Just my 0.2 cents.

Good stuff CH! I am also interested in the Swift Siroco II as my hunting bullet. Just got to find some of them in 6.5.

Magazine writers have to come up with something new on a monthly basis. This had been done over and over again. I prefer venison over gelatin and phone books to make donair meat, jerky, and medallion steaks. Massize meh!

Penetration, retained weight, etc. All for amateurs....bullet surgically placed is where it's at....

I guess I'm daft because I'm not really sure what to make of this. Gelletin and bone are two different worlds are they not? Is this just designed to sell barnes bullets? I like premium bullets but as long as they don't fly apart on impact I'm happy.

Gelatin is probably the best medium to give the cup and core bullets a chance to compete. If bone was used as a medium for the test, it would probably increase the gap between the monometal bullets, and the other designs.

Garry at CI distribution in Ontario carries them and will ship them to you. He even sells half boxes in case it doesn't work in your rig.

Good luck,
