I have purchased a project gun, a cooey model 71. I owned one of these about 30 yrs ago and have never seen one since. in appearance it is made off the Winchester m70 all things appear identical with the exception of a side safety working off the trigger. does anyone have any info on this gun? the barrel is hooped, and the trigger is missing. would the barrel be the same thread and dimention as the m70. as I understand Winchester used 2 separate threads 16 tpi and 24 tpi. and could a win m70 trigger fit
I took the trigger and bolt stop out of one of my win model 70 and they interchange fine. the receiver on the other hand is very similar to a Remington 700. its round with a pancake style recoil lug
The Cooey 71 has a push feed Winchester model 70 action. The only difference IIRC is the safety and quality of fit and finish. I had one in 270 as well, it shot exceptionally well after I free floated the barrel.

delivered mine for barrel replacement yesterday, seems silly to put a lot of money into this but just want something a bit different. now on the hunt for a stock or build one
