Default Any other bear activity yet?

Anybody else gettin any action yet? Our baits were getting nailed hard up until today..... went cold with this @$#%@ weather.

Found a couple of plugs on the road last week, seen one little brown guy, and a black sow with 3 cubs.

On a side note..... anybody know where to find beaver this year? Seems harder to come by than normal.

Ya your right about the beavers. I've had to spend the last few evenings out at the farm shooting them because I can't find anywhere to buy carcasses.Been fortunate to get enought to hang at my 4 baits. As far as movement up here, its minimal if at all. But its been warm enough for the last couple of weeks to melt alot of the snow so it should be any day now. I'm going to be out this weekend putting out some bait and doing the site prep. Should be fun. Hopefully will get some hits in the next week or so and be able to hunt the week of May 15th.

Default Shooting Beaver

Isn't shooting beaver illegal unless you have a pest control permit?

On private land,(our farm) if you get permission from the owner(my dad) you can shoot them. They are considered pests because of the all the damage they can do.

Southerner, you're talking about Tamid? There always has to be a guy who questions everything.

what do you use for bait?

been seeing alot of grain and anything sweet on wild tv.

i thought it would be great to get old donuts from tim hortons, they throw them out by the boat loads.

Most of the snow is gone, got all the oats and greese I need, so this friday I'll have my baits out. Looking forward to it.

I found this guy southwest of Calgary this morning. Got a little "boar fever" & aimed low on a 250 yard shot. Maybe next time. I decided to walk the foothills and saw him eating grass on a hillside about a mile & a 1/2 off the road. Not much snow around until you go west of the eastern slopes. Grass, etc is coming up. I noticed the new shoots were all being eaten.
