Looking for Inspiration: Yellow Stimulators
I'm getting ready to start tying this winter, and I think I'll start with Yellow Stimulators.
I need some inspiration, though. Most of the recipes I'm coming across don't "speak" to me.
I'm looking for something with an interesting little twist, but something that will still work on the Bow, and something that still qualifies as a "Yellow Stimulator."
And, I don't tie what I can buy from Icky.
Does anyone have some inspiration to share?

I tie a green one but you could change it to yellow. Elk tail brown hackle clipped short dubbed body yellow or what ever. Now the wing is the same as a normal stimmi except I leave the butts to stick out the front of the eye. you can dub a different color near the head or the same that is what I do brown or grizzly hackle again clip it short so it will sit flat in the water. Also you could wrap rear body with foam for better float ability. I also tie a foam hopper with a deer head it floats like a cork I vary the foam body to suit bugs

That sounds interesting. How far out in front of the eye do you leave the butts? Do you let them fan out?

depending on the hook size about the same as the hook gap I usually use a size 12 2x hook and no I try to keep them in a tight bunch straight out

How about this one with a foam body that floats forever.

flies
Looks like nice ties there Lornce and Flieguy
It's what I use and they are killers. I don't go past 3X #6 though very often. I use flourescent colors for the bodies. Orange and yellow for rear body colors and chartrues, bright green, or peacock for the head or front of the body.

I like it!
Perfect timing. I'm just sifting through all of my stuff trying to choose materials.
I'm eyeing up orange crystal chenille for the part of the body close to the head, but I've only got it in medium.
I could use some yellow/gold angel hair to mix in to the antron for the rest of the body. "Rootbeer" is the closest colour I've got. I've never tried to mix antron and angel hair before. I'm not sure how well it would work out.
I'm as bad as magpie with shiney things.
I may have to go shopping.
