Default Good 3" shell for geese?

Trying goose hunting this weekend for first time and using one of buddy's 12 gauge shotguns, have to pick up my own shells and not sure if there's much difference between shells or if there's ones for geese.
Thanks

Default Shells

Any 2 3/4" shell with "BB"s will do. I have hunted geese for over 30 years never used anything else. save your $$$

It is really what shoots best in your gun.
Personally I like Federal black cloud and Winchester expert.

Im a Kent fan, 3" #1's. they can be harder to find in that shot size for whatever reason, if not BB. You loose 2 shot sizes in steel vs lead, so its like shooting a #2.
With right choke, pattern out of my gun is stellar. MIke is right, I would pattern a few different and see, no guess work. Seen Mike shoot his 3.5" black cloud, those suckers knock down geese, eh Mike

I use Federal Black Cloud 3 1/2" BB. But buddy brought some tungsten 3 1/2" and absolutely destroyed the birds haha

3 inch #2 Blind Side has be my "go to"... but I have been questioning the cost...
I grabbed 6 boxes on 40% off sale a couple months ago... I will likely try something else once I run out. I found that my patterns were very simular on a few different shells.

I was a little trigger happy last Sunday and ran out of Blind Side before the geese came, "borrowed" 3 inch #2 Winchester Super X from a buddy... dead goose...

I haven't seen any proof (personal or online) than anything works better at actually killing birds. The wound channels on Blind Side and Black Cloud are impressive though.
An arguement for the Blind Side would be that I very rarely find any pellets in birds (ducks at least) I get with Blind Side, they all seem to blow right through.

I do agree with the patterning of your gun though, see which shells work best from your shotgun.

I prefer Federal Black Cloud Snow Goose loads, #2 shot size, but. I also use Winchester Xpert BB as well.

I spend most of my shotgun ammunition money shooting clays in the off season, to make sure that I will place the patterns properly on live birds. When it comes time to hunt geese, I go with a pretty basic load, like 3" Kent Fasteel BB.

I have tried almost all the ammo mentioned with the exception of "blind side". I now use Kent, or Winchester Xpert 3"BB most of the time.
