Boatman migration is in full swing
Plenty of the little guys dropping into Lake Sundance, Calgary today. Lots of trout looking for them also.

How's the trout population fairing in the lake these days? With all the perch netting you have done does it seem to be helping?

boatman migration
Small boatman were dropping into a local pond tonight. Fishing a size 12 backswimmer pattern at dark was crazy good. Practically a fish on every cast.

Trout are stocked so population is controlled. Some are skinny however. Cast a boatman in 20 foot of water... TROUT! Cast a boatman in 5 feet of water...perch...every time. Perch are so plentiful they are now taking dry flies.

Taco...what are you saying????? Now you just need to find a lake with a good hatch of Calibaetis and Sedges so you can catch some big, fat fish on dries while sight fishing. There is nothing like a tiny creek in the forest, but fooling big lake fish on dries can be fun as well.
