Talking Hermitage Sturgeon (May 31,2013)

Met this guy named John and he told me it was his first day out fishing this year. Boy he started off the year greatly. He caught himself an approximate 14 lbs. sturgeon just 20 feet from shore. He had quite light line on so his fight took him around 30+ minutes.

Nice fish! Just curious, how did he figure 14lb on the fish? Great way to start the season for sure.

I am the guy who came up with the estimated weight. fish was roughly 36-37 inches with a 16 inch girth. So along with those numbers and actually holding it I would have guessed 13-15 lbs.

PS I am the guy in the white shirt, I helped him with landing the fish.

Awesome, good job helping him out. Those charts are the same ones I use Badass. Nice to see they are still biting right now!

Why not? Lots of people care about the weight. I've only caught 2 and I want to know how much they weighed. Its easy to measure them and compare it to the charts Canadian_Badass pointed out. What a beautiful fish!

Theres a few caught there every year, nothing new. I caught my first there last year about this time. I kinda enjoy the "crowd" always nice to meet new people who share our passion for fishing.
