Nice! Congrats! Seems like it took me a few years and I mashed a few nocks on the way.
The old aluminum Easton 2314's I used to shoot had a cone shaped end you glued the nock on to so they would deflect the arrow. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

It was 4 months or so for me. Ruined a lot of perfectly good arrows in the process too.

Congrats. It was a couple of years of shooting before i got the first one. They seemed a little easier after that. Once the novelty of the first few wear off, you'll have to start shooting a five-spot!

robin hoods
about 3 minutes after I bought my first XX78s. I had broke a lot of knocks before, but the first time I shot my XX78s in the basement at Bashaw Sports I had 2 the same day.. I had been shooting for at least 10 years at that time. No more knock hunting for me after that

I never shot a Robin Hood as when I got good enough that I would hit my arrows I started shooting single arrows at different targets as I did not want to damage a $12 arrow.

Robin Hood
It took me about two years with on and off shooting, mostly on now. That was a couple of months ago but I shot my second one a couple of weeks after that. The first one was at 20 yards and the second one at 30 yards. Cheers Roscoe

after ruining many vanes, nocks and arrows, I started aiming at different spots....now I use pin nocks....so I will never shoot a Robin Hood.

I think I shot for a year or better before I shot the first one. Equipment was not exactly what it is today.
With an plain jane hunting sight a lot of hoods were a combination of accuracy and serendipity. It is an indication of a tight group but not necessarily super human accuracy. I think it is the rare archer that can do it deliberately, and would likely need a scope. They are out there though (actually maybe one or two on this forum ) I've seen guys light matches, snuff candles and shoot coins on edge.
I think I have about 7 robin hoods from 24 years of shooting. The first 3 were with fingers, one with a longbow, and all from varying distances from 20-40 yards. I think I pulled the first couple apart to get the good arrow LOL. Poor, broke student.\
I don't think I could intentionally shoot one. If I put up a golf tee and shot for a week at 20 yards I would wratch a lot of nocks and vanes, but I'm willing to bet that statistically the odds of shooting one would be relatively modest for me at least.

Shot a Robin Hood the day after I bought the PSE Stinger. The arrows now reside at Lane Archery in Lethbridge, where I bought the bow.

We have set up bows for new shooters that have Hooded on their first and second arrow ever...true story and it has happened several times...
We have a Hooter Shooter which is an precise automated bow shooting machine, some shooters bows wont impact the same spot unless tuned..if they hood it would be bad shot confidence more than skill...
A well tuned bow to arrows will improve chances incredibly...the shooter is only as good as the bow...

There is the feeling of "oh neat" but shortly after it's like "oh crap that cost me $15"
Just got my new bow all set up earlier this week and took a few shot to get it on paper and make sure things were set up proper once that was done I tried a 3 shot group (bow hasnt been tuned yet) I wrecked two arrows, with my second shot I hit my first arrow and with my third I hit my second Ill still shoot them at the range but the field point scared the outside varnish down to the carbon.

Started shooting a compund when i was twelve and it took me 24 years to get my first Robin Hood. Got it last year at sherwood park archery lanes. The cool thing was my son was there with me to witness it!

got mine in my first year of shooting, about age 13-14 I think. I was shooting a lower weight bow and so the arrow barely penetrated the other one, but I can honestly say that it was on the X of the 40cm target so it was a true robin hood. After that I upgraded to triple face targets as arrows are too expensive to waste, and it's just not as fun knowing its $30 every time you do it.
