Default Got a job offer from Hinton, need some info

Fellow Members,

Is anybody from Hinton? I'm just wondering how's the hunting, fishing, quading in the area. Also need info about housing, schools, weather, etc..
Any info will be appreciated!

Thanks!

Outdoor stuff is all good. Housing is relatively expensive, schools about the same as anywhere, weather is good, shopping type stuff sucks big time. Town is not to business friendly.

For sure need to factor the prevailing winds when buying a home here.

Hinton is a nice place for any outdoorsmen. Not sure about schools but I think housing is good and prices are decent.

But there is a bad stink to the town. I think it come from the pulp mill and being as the town sits in a bit of a valley, the stench just seems to hang around but you will get used to it.

About the only downside to that place. But then, not nearly as bad as it was at one time.

Thank you very much for everybody for all the information.
Looks like it is hard to find a place to rent, but I keep looking.
I may see some of you soon

Thank you Gents!
I'm desperately trying to find a housing there and it seems to be impossible!
I talked to real estate companies, several apartment companies and NOTHING!!
Many houses for sale, but can't find anything for rent.
If anyone has something I'd appreciate it!.
We need at least 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom house, condo or apartment with a little bigger than average rooms, since we got a king and a queen bedroom set.
Any lead would be greatly appreciated!

Downside.

The mill pumps raw effluent into the river so don't eat the fish from there. Boating downstream can really stink when the dioxin muck is released.

Upside.

Jasper is the best National Park in Canada.

Raw effluent?? Haha, does Hinton pulp have some sort of exemption from environmental laws?

Dioxins are odourless, they are just two molecules of oxygen combined
