My rifle shoots under 1/2" @100M all day. Prove it.
Taken from a popular thread on another site. Take the Challenge and post your sucessfull results. THE RULES
* Five consecutive 5 shot groups on one target shot at 100M (5 groups only, must be on same sheet). 100yds OK for those who don't shoot metric.
* Nothing may be placed on the target which could potentially hide a "flier".
* There are no caliber or rifle restrictions--so stock to custom
* One photo must include the groups, with caliper measuring the smallest group.
* One photo must show rifle as shot ...including the rest sysem used to shoot the groups.
This is not a contest, just a "challenge". Do not post groups unless they are all under 1/2". Please do not derail.

My example is not that great as I wrote down the group sizes above each group which makes it a problem to show the calipers on the small group.
Rifle has a Barnard S Action / 24" krieger light palma barrel / Sako stock. Chambered in 30BR.

Easiest way for me is to measure outside to outside then subtract a calibre width, but at times I just measure outside to outside and be done with it.
My match rifles are designed to shot groups but to shoot scores past 500 meters, however, so I don't do a lot of shooting off the bags at 100 except to work up loads, then quite often I shoot ten shot groups.

Not 5 but 3
Heres a pic of three consecutive three shot groups out of my rem700 LTR with 20" barrel and hand loads. Its a .308 winchester, on good days i can usually keep 3shot groups with this rifle around half inch or less. I know this has nothing to do with the original post but thought Id put it out there.

If you can do that out of breath and excited, without a bench rest, You have my admiration. Otherwise, it's purely an exercise in machine work.

Please keep the "picture posts" at the five group/five shot per group as per "THE RULES"...otherwise the thread will likely derail.......and the purpose is give us all a reality check on what it takes to really shoot consistent 1/2" groups.
I think the gunnutz thread has been up for about three weeks and has had about half a dozen shooters make the cut...On that thread which has about 20,000 views, the shooters who try and fail, post their group sizes in text---leaving the pictures to the shooters who have earned the bragging rights outlined in THE RULES.
Groups are measured by subtracting the caliber from the outside-to-outside measurment which gives the center-to-center distance.

The Light Palma contour has a muzzle diameter of 0.75". The shank taper is a bit shorter than the standard varmint barrel. Weight of this rifle with scope is 10.5 lbs.

Here's one that will do it.
Two ten shot groups with two different bullet lengths, fired alternately with the scope re-set for each shot.
The groups are measured outside to outside and the flyer on the left group was a called shot.
Groups were shot at 100 yards off the bench while working up long range loads.

I was surprised how diffiicult cold weather shooting really is...until I took the challenge. Frankly, I expected all my groups to be under 0.4, but that never happened.

Cat..show us five, five shot groups on one paper. And, "called" shots count as part of the group.

Tho0se are two TEN SHOT groups with each bullet in each group fired alternately and yes the flyer is STILL within the parameters, the group was measured outside to outside, NOT center to center.
What , not good enough?
that's basically twenty rounds fired consecutively with a scope adjustment each time only with a different adjustment and repositioning of the shooter as well.
each shot was a complete entity unto its own and still that rifle put twenty under 1/2", not 5 groups of 5 with the same scope settings for each of the five shots fired.
Think about that, even the scope was changed each time, and a different length of bullet used.

Five shots in five different groups on one piece of paper for this challenge. Nothing else fits... let's be good sports and follow the rules as set out in the OP. If somebody wants to start a thread asking for ten shot groups, please proceed, but lets leave this one as originally conceived.

Good on you. One of the things I liked about this particular challenge, is that few, if any shooters will have five / five shot groups on one target which means that we need to get out and actually do some shooting .... Best of luck.

I'm sorry this doesn't meet your criteria. But I could care less. I use rifles to hunt with so don't shoot paper. Besides, I'm a poor shot. This type of results interest me far more. Far more.

Come on guys...lets keep the thread focused on the OP requirements and not let this get derailed. Five - five shot groups under 1/2" on one target @ 100M. Don't have a target like that to show...go out and shoot one.

The reason the other sites thread is so popular, and only has half a dozen guys "making the cut" is because their rules specify factory hunting rifles.

No double --- check the thread on gunnutz again--- the original post had no such restrictions --- and I think it now has over 22,000 views. There are six sucessfull postings..none of them with what I would call hunting rifles. There is another thread, with the same challenge for factory varmint rigs to shoot under 0.75".
In any event They are having quite a discussion regarding what constitutes "factory". The challenge I put out does not restrict any rifle type.
Also, to quote the OPoster on gunnutz --the purpose is to "separate the talkers from the do'ers".

And it costs a fortune that average people just do not have to duplicate it. I just went through a few and only three shots made it. Do have a .22 452 target like Cats, though. Might try in the spring with a new Cooper.
