Default SPFGA Memberships for 2013

Memberships for 2013 have been available since Dec 1st and are selling faster than normal. It is possible the "cap" set by the club will be reached by the early spring, so if you are interested ... you may want to buy sooner than later. More improvements to the Archery Range are anticipated this spring and include a Shooting Shed with concrete floor and a gravelled parking lot. To view pics of the facility, search this forum under SPFGA Gallery. Membership info is available on the website at spfga.org

Spruce Grove Gun Club has just announced a membership cap. Unless a huge amount of members fail to renew by March 1st, there will be no new memberships available for SGGC this year. This will definitely contribute to brisk sales of SPFGA memberships!

No doubt the Spruce Grove cap will drive most new prospects to look elsewhere and SPFGA is one of the likely destinations. It is my understanding that Spruce Grove is giving first dibs to folks holding memberships in 2012, and will not sell to any new applicants until March 1st..and then, only if their cap of 1000 has not been reached. Most new prospects will not wait until March 1st to find out if they will be accepted, as to do so would risk missing a sure bet at SPFGA...at least until that cap has been reached. These caps are messy business and although I understand they are necessary to insure the long term operation of existing clubs, it is going to put a lot of shooters/archers in a bad spot.

What is SPFGA's policy on bringing guests? Both to the archery and rifle ranges? I read their website but didnt see anything stating anything about guests.

Guests are welcome, but only as observers. The range uses a range officer who will check memberships on the fireing line. They are pretty adamant that no non members will shoot. Been a member since 2004.

Trooper has it right. Range officers are not always present, but the club now employs one person for specifically for "enforcement". In the past, members permitting guests to shoot have not been formally sanctioned, but since the cap was established, members permitting guest shooting may lose their own card. Official signage is still on the "to do" list, but the language has been submitted.
