Saw some new signage this morning
Every other day I cross the Milk River using the Coffin Bridge and today I noticed some new signage on both sides of the road after you cross the bridge going south . . . the new signs read "Alberta Provincal Park Boundary." This means that we will be unable to hunt this area. The Coffin Bridge is about 10 miles west of Writing on Stone.

Does the Milk River Colony know that they are now within the Provincial Park Boundary?
I would be seeking permission from them to hunt that area if it was me.
Ask for Walter.

This land was private land, now Govt. owns it as in PARK.now no one can hunt or acess in any manner other than guided tour on it any longer. Why isnt someone whining like the lease land thread about access, after all it is OUR LAND,owned by the people yada yada yada... Seems its only the lease holder that is the bad guy, but if govt takes land and says no hunting etc its ok... I just dont understand some of you guys reasoning.

Let's see......public land where "no one can hunt" vs. public land where "privileged few can hunt". You can't figure out the difference there?
I am starting to understand why we have difficult conversations.

Where is the downside of a new Provincial Park? It is a wildlife oasis for the area and the game will come off the protected area. New trophy animals, and replenishment, much like Cyprus Hills?

Oh wow that land is now a provincial park? I hunted that exact land back in 2002-2004 and got my biggest mulie buck ever from there in 2004.
Sad to see no one can hunt it anymore...but glad to see its now a sanctuary for the deer and other animals...I saw lots in there...coyotes, chickens, rattle snakes, and mulies

Hmmm
... no access vrs access to all but not for hunting
... land set aside to graze cattle for an individuals profit vrs land set aside to support wildlife to the benefit of all of us and for generations to come....
Seems like a no-brainer to me.
Perhaps your question was rhetorical and I misunderstood?

Here are the details of the Writing on Stone park expansion including a map as brought to notice last October.

All parks are not created equal. There was no valid reason not to classify these new lands as a "wildland" park.

Thanks walking buffalo for posting the maps, just couldn't seem to find the information. Been going into that area since River Road Colony was established and heard rumors from the colony members, sure noticed the yellow signs when they went up.
