Default Flashlight blood tracker

Heard you can buy a flashlight that will show you the blood trail in a different shade so you can follow the trail.
Has anyone used one .Do they work well ?
How is it when you have red leafs every where. Do the red leafs shine different?

Ya they work but I like leds.
When they light blood up it is darker than the leave so no matter what color the leave is the blood will always stand out..
For me thay don't give off enough light this is why I prefer led..

ive had one for a couple years...got it for christmas from santa....never used it on a blood trail though.

It has four settings. Red LED, Green LED, Red/Green LED and White LED. The colored LED's are supposed to make the blood stand out i guess.

Is that a normal led flashlight for tracking that you use during the day light hrs.

I've never used one of those lights and always figured they're more a marketing ploy then anything. I've spent a few nights following bloodtrails with a Coleman lantern and a led maglight. If I'm by myself I just use the flashlight although I'm getting fairly tempted to try a surefire just to see if it's better. Anyway back to bloodtrailing, I prefer to track at night, I find it easier to focus my attention because my field of vision is limited to what my light is shining at. I've followed some very pathetic bloodtrails by flashlight that I couldn't follow in the daylight. The only downsides are you'll want a gps coordinate because your going to get turned around and you need to know the animals dead because you won't see it if it gets up when your 5 yards away from it. A second person is also a huge asset, but a second person is always good on a tough trail.

they are useless in the early season when everything is still alive. it does light up red really well...however, it lights up EVERTHING that is red. you wouldnt think there are that many red/ off red colours in the forest...

i think it would work better in the late fall once everything is browns up.
