Default Need help, how to remove duct tape glue

So got a new rear window installed and now the hard work begins. I had it covered with duct tape and a garbage bag. Now the bag and duct tape are gone but all the glue is still stuck to my truck. I tried goo gone but it didnt even soften it.

What should i use. I was thinking kereosene but dont want to mess up my paint or finish.

Any ideas?

peanut butter. Smear it on the glue let sit a couple of minutes then rub off in circular motion. Works.

Only tried the chunky but I think either will work as it is the peanut oil that reacts with the glue.

wd-40 does a pretty decent job. Takes a bit of elbow grease but it does break down the glue residue.

WD40 also works. Ops. I was beat to it. Must have been writing it as it was being posted.

Got a parts store like Napa or Bumper to bumper in town. A light duty degreaser will take it off real easy and not damage your paint.

Peanut butter works really well for getting tree sap off of surfaces (even your hands) really well too.

Although not sure I would use chunky stuff on a paint job....might scratch?

On glass excellent, on paint VERY bad idea. It will take the glue off but it will also remove the clear coat and often the paint as well.

as said by others, WD-40 is a pretty good solvent, as is Napatha/lighter fluid. Safe for paint.

coke takes oil and tar splatter from new road construction off car paint. Maybe it works for this also?

Try nail polish remover...the "gentle" kind.

To bad it's on the paint...nothing gets to those rubber based adhesives like acetone.

Lacquer thinner, or acetone. However, as stated, keep it off any painted surfaces.

k

Acetone, I don't leave home without it.

Belt sander.

or you could just put some fresh duct tape over to hide it.

Hope this helps. I know the belt sander will work.
