My 4 year old just pointed out the first geese I've seen this spring. Everything is brown, just a little snow in the shady spots. Rivers are starting to flow a little more.

Conditions
The south isn't looking good. Very dry and we have had several large and dangerous grass fires already. Unless they get a significant amount of evenly spaced percipitation soon the summer could be bleak.
North of Edmonton there is a nice even melt going on and conditions are estimated to be good to above average for agriculture and wildlife. I'm in the Emergency Management businss for the province and hence keep a close eye on this stuff, especially the melt and run off.

I've seen bees (4 weeks ago), shot gophers, seen spiders, the tulips are coming up, the magpies are building nests, seen over a dozen bald eagles, observed more lady bugs than I've ever seen in my entire life (a good thing), BUT, I have yet to see a robin. Kindda creeps me out as we have no snow at all in Calgary this winter.............at all! Bad omen for this cat!

"in the great province? "
I keep waiting for someone from BC, SASK. or MAN. to post with their views.
Out around Rocky (the best part of the great province) there is very little snow left (except what is falling right now) and it is very spring like (between the mini blizzards)

yeah the weather around rocky was bizzare on thursday night. At work at 10:30 it snowed like crazy leaving about 3 inches in 35-40 minutes. there were also a few bolts of lightning accompanying the storm. very weird indeed.

Foot of fresh snow out near Robb and area the night before last. We only got 6 inches at home, but we still have plenty in the bush. Once we get some warmth, she is gonna be one heck of a mess.
