you'll be doing the 3" high 3" low hold over if trying to do one pin to 40....i can see doing one pin for 20-30 yrd work with fast set up, i'm likely going to try some of those 6.2 gpi shafts that hca sells, forget the actual name of them as i really loved the 338 fps i shot with the xlr8 last season....loved the trajectory to 60 yrds, flight time etc. only way to do that with safer brace height bow and even lower poundages is to get a bit under 5 gpp imo, i can see an element rkt in my future and shoot in the low to mid-4gpp range with 14% or higher foc's should get me to 340 fps with 70 lbs and 29" draw

Disagree Stinky.
1 pin to 40 no problem, with lots of speed and energy and no need to hold low or high, you'll be within an inch or so.

Right now i'm at 340 grains hunting arrow wt., pulling #60 @ 28". I'm shooting to 30 on one pin right now (3/4 high at 20), no holding low or high required. 302-307fps.
*The bow i'm interested in will do 340-344fps @ 70#, w/440 grains hunting arrow. I'm a big guy, strong, not concerned about the extra 10 lbs pull either.
(could always go to 72 or 73# if needed to get onto one pin...) These bows have an X in name also, but not followed by an L or an LR, and they don't sound like an apartment bldg. collaspsing when they hit the string stop. lol.

I really do like pulling 60# though. And I do have some financial constraints (wife regulated budget) and difficulty to try the bow I want cause i'm a lefty; so likely I'll keep shooting to 30 on 1 pin for the next couple seasons at least.

It is a good thread, but I would have to say we are getting a bit off topic! haha - don't want to start a debate either...

i shot 60 for first time this year also, its nice, have both 70 and 60 lb limbs for my mr7, would have gone back to 70 limbs but too close to season and fairly dialed so i stuck with 60, adequate no doubt in the mr7

i remember having a little trouble getting 20-30 close enough together when i shot at 338 fps...so really one pin would have been ideal at that speed, still would have a 40 though and every 10 after that, good luck with next set up, post details, i'll do same with my next bow project
