load for .338 in 180g AB
Hi guys,
Thought I would try reloading the 180g accubond in my .338 for a light recoiling "deer load". My first try was with H4350 at 72.5g, 74.5g, and just 3 at 75.5, max being 74.5. The 2g under max load worked best in terms of accuracy, 2.25 inch at 100y but still not very good. 74.5g was at best 3 inch group and the 3 shot group with 1g over max was like 5 inches. These loads are all probably going at least 3050fps + as my Browning Xbolt with the 26 barrel seems to consistently be 100fps faster then manuals when I chrony them. The 74.5g load is more then likely around the 3200 mark so there is no need to chase the speed end of things.
What I am looking for now is a load to try with some RL19 powder I have as the H4350 has dissappointed. I have searched everywhere for some starting loads on the internet and the best I can find is one post on a forum where someone states 75g of RL19 was a good load. The Reliant websight does not have anything either. I am hoping for a little more then just one random posts so was hoping someone here might help me with any loads they have used with the RL19 and the lighter bullets. I would imagine any loads with the 185gttsx would be very similiar. And before anyone posts it I know the 180 suffers in a lot of areas compared to the 210 or 225g in terms of BC, I just like using the full spectrum available to me in the .338.
