Default .303 Identification

Hi there,

My family and I just cleaned out my Grandfathers old house and I ended up with an old .303

I'm curious as to what model it is..I've looked and looked and seen similiar MRK 4's and so forth but none with the matching stock..just actions.

I assume it's a Lee-Enfield but I'm not certain.

Here are a list of the markings on the rifle.

Barrel
BNP .303
2'222 18.5 tons per 0"
R4 -third of the way down Barrel

Then Something that kinda looks like this
<---Stamped Crown
---
60
N

Then Beside that
I
N
5

Stock Behind trigger finger
B
--
32

Magazine Has
Z
18170

Thanks Guys

Does it say anything on the opposite side of the ejection port.
Can you take a picture of that, if there is anything, as well as the markings on the stock wrist.
Looks like a No4 Mk1, maybe a mk2, that's what I need the other pictures for.

Also check and see if the bolt serial number on the bottom edge of the bolt handle and the rifle serial number, which is on the side of the of the front receiver ring, match.

It's been Bubba'd, unfortunatly, as a full wood original would fetch a handsome price.

There is nothing stamped on the other side of the ejection port..I think anyhow. EDIT ther eis something stamped there..but very very faint...I'll see if i can figure it out.

I have attached a link of the underside of the wrist

is how it should look...my camera needs a tune up..sorry.

The receiver ring and the barrel of course match, but the underside of the bolt is stamped with a crown above BNP

There are several other stamps on the bolt as well

The part that rotates to fit into the receiver is stamped with a 2 and some other markings that make zero sense to me...and on the opposite end is stamped with 62 on the one side and " F55 2"

Also, Why don't I see any Mk1 or Mk2 with a similar stock? They all seem to be full stocks.

Thank you for your help.

Call Wholesale Sports North store in Edmonton, I hear that they have verifiers that can run the numbers in a program for you, they did it for a friend of mine and even registered it for him

The reason is that someone has "bubba'd" your rifle. That means they took a saw to the original full stock to make it into a sporter rifle, destroying any historical value it may have once had. If the barrel hasn't been cut, you could source out a replacement stock set and return it to original condition.

It looks like you have a no4 mk1, in it's current condition i'd say it's worth maybe $150 tops, if it was original could've been worth closer to $400

No 4 mk1

ROF= Royal Ordanace Factory

F usually means Fazakerly.

I think the last bit is actually 1944

Default I have the brother.

I have the exact twin brother to your gun. I haven't been able to figure out mych information about it either. If your gun has had the butt stock sawed off then so has mine. Interestingly enough they did a fantastic job doing it. I can't tell that anything was done to it. Like yours mine was left to me by my grandfather. I think it to be a N4 MK1 as well. Worthless or not I take mine down every now and then and shoot it at the range. It is an extremely accurate weapon, and beautiful to boot.
