walking to the polls
I guess I have always been lucky. I don't think I have ever lived farther than a twenty minute walk from my polling station. But walking to the polls has always felt right. It is a brief moment when I can allow the weight of what I am about to do settle on me and later, once my ballot is cast, I can reflect of the choices I have made and what they mean to me, to my city, my province and my country.
Just take a moment and think what those less fortunate than us must go through to have their opinion heard. To travel half a day or more in fear of your lives... A fifteen minute lineup in a stuffy gym doesn't seem too bad.
Your vote is a profound thing. Use it wisely. Many do not. Something taken for granted has no worth.
