I ran into a biologist once who used them.... he swore by em
And they seemed to work ..... but I’m sticking with my shells

We only used six dozen shells today, but our other partners keep buying full bodies, we have around fifteen dozen shells and full bodies total. With good scouting, you don't need that many decoys, but with the boys, it's like a disease.

Yup
I hear ya.
My buddy has 4 dozen
I got about 60.... plus 8 big ole magnums
And 40 of those old old flimsy small shells that break at the base of the neck ( and usually never put out)
My buddy always wants more.....
I figure a guy and get the job done with 2 dozen broken into 4 6 family groups some times

If you are in the right field, and on the X, two to four dozen will get you limits.

I’ve been out this weekend and seen as well got a lot of permission near the Redwater/Opel area, don’t really have a hunting partner for geese and have a weekday and weekend open schedule most of the time. If anyone would like shoot me a pm

Got 14 Canada's and 5 specks on Sunday. As well as 8 teals. Too bad that we had a tough time getting the specks to come in as there were hundreds. Near Camrose

Was out all last week, started spotting Sat evening, finished Thurs nite. Right off the bat there was a speck shoot within 5 mi of the turnoff, another about 5 mi NE, then a honker shoot 3-4mi east, next AM another speck shoot about 5 mi S, then another honker shoot a few miles east, and a speck shoot a few miles east of that, went for breakfast, took the highway back to original start point, saw 3 more speck shoots and a honker shoot in 20 mi. Few snows starting to show, maybe saw 3000 altogether, all mixed in with specks.
Also saw some guinea fowl on the road, one of those "WTH is that?" moments.
First shoot was on the Monday, specks on barley, a wild shoot, birds trying to land on the dog blind beside my head, and freaking when it wasn't solid ground. Birds kept trying to land and a good bunch landed after we shot a limit in about 15 min, picked out honkers after that, even they were landing. We figured it had to be as they were landing into the sun. Finished with a full limit on darks for the two of us, not a duck in sight.
Next one was on the same field, wouldn't hardly look at us alone come in to that field , they were on a mission to the next field SE of us, shot 9 or so. A kid and his dad came up for that shoot, kid's first goose. We likely shud have shot more, but, were busy holding off to give the kid a shot. No ducks again.
Next one was on a field posted no hunting, I know the fella, said help yourselves. We did. Place was a pea field, birds were on the bald end of it, within sight of the roosts on the north end. They moved up to the hillside, lots of good cover there, and out of sight of the roosts. That made life simple on a pea field. Geese did about as expected, some longer shots after the first couple of flocks, shot a limit in about 25min, then the ducks started coming. Shot a limit on those for two of us. They were just a goofy as the geese on the Monday. Easily 10.000 ducks there.
Shot the same field again, but the west side this time, birds changed to a section a mile behind us. Got 6 geese, 1/2doz ducks. But, there is a slough below us in the trees, and ducks had been dumping into it. Walked down to the slough, couldn't get near the water to get the mojos out past the reeds, whole thing is surrounded by willows with no gaps, super tight, Finally found a way in, left the mojos behind, and just waited for birds to dump in. Tuck earned his keep in there, thick reeds, supertight willows, we didn't drop a bird in water, he had to find them and contend with the cover, he did an outstanding job in there. Finished with 7 more birds and a lot of laughs, buddy twisted his back, only lasted a day though. I had to go get a bird on the other side with Tuck, on the way back caught a whitey trying to sneak in on my buddy, down in a low crouch, and my buddy was maybe 15yds ahead of it, on the other side of the willows.
Last day was on a peafield, birds changed fields again, managed 2 specks and 3 honkers out of it.

Jump shoot on a mass of snows. 3 shooters, 1 volley of 3 shots each, 31 geese. Dec'd in a lentil field 4 days in a row. Super cell of snow geese provide great shoots until they land and suck every bird away. Pressure cooker rolling 12 hours a day. Heading south for another crane shoot, then off to the coast for some relax time.

We have reworked our setup this year. We have sold off most of our shells and replaced them with silhouettes.
That’s 15 dozen 10 Canada 5 speck
The other big change is the a-frame
The picture is the classic fence line but we have also run it in a pea field and no flairing. Way easier to shoot and work the dog.

Absolutely Awesome! Every year I meet hunters in their 70s-80s and all I can think is I sure hope when I’m that age i can still get out like they are! Very inspirational and absolutely great to see!!
