I've never sent hides for tanning, but been wondering something along similar lines... can any of you guys comment whether boarded, dry coyote hides (as in ready for a fur-market sale) are able to be sent to a tanner in that kind of case-skinned, fur out, dry state? Or do the smaller private tanners outside the big fur-house auction markets use a process of some kind that's different, where they don't want the hides in a dry, boarded state??
I can't seem to find any specific info about that. I'm thinking about hand picking a couple skins off my market-stack to send for tanning, to keep for myself kinda like the OP is talking to do.
Any other trappers here have experience with sending boarded/dry skins for tanning instead of to auction??
