Any citations for effectiveness of this type of mask? I know the results for the shield type clear plastic have not been good.

Masks are useless. Unless you have a actual seal it’s a bandaid on a sucking chest wound. Haven’t had one on my face ever nor will I. The plandemic is a hoax, haven’t changed a thing about my life over this. Looking forward to this weekend and having some great friends over for a relaxing evening with drinks.

So whitetail how are you going to deal with mandate that you will have to wear a mask when going into a business such as a grocery or shopping store.

Yet the main concern seems to be exhaled droplets of liquid.
Which range in size from 5-10 microns.

it can be inferred that an individual who ingests, inhales, or is otherwise exposed to SARS-CoV-2 positive respiratory droplets can be exposed to hundreds or thousands of virus particles which increases the probability of infection.

COVID-19 virus chiefly transmits through liquid droplets containing viruses. These droplets are often generated by infected patients through coughing and can transmit the virus to uninfected individuals by direct inhalation, or by contaminating nearby surfaces. These larger droplets tend to fall close to where they were released, which is why social distancing measures have been enforced.

While COVID-19 is mainly spread by inhaling tiny droplets released when an infected person talks, coughs or sneezes, large droplets can also land on surfaces.

Or filter it.
I suspect this virus is far hardier in an airborne form than we are being led to believe.

Just like an oil type air filter, they are pretty much useless, if they are not oiled.

Some people just don't get it and they never will.
Masks are not there to provide 100% protection to the wearer from inhaling the virus.
Masks are there to stop the wearers from spraying their infected mucus and sputum on the rest of us.

The problem is that some people's behavior tends to change when they put on a mask. Many of the same people that were very careful about maintaining social distance put on a mask, and then tend to forget all about social distancing, because they have a mask on.

Or they won't wear them properly. I have seen people in the grocery store with the mask only covering their chin, or only on their mouth and not their nose, or pulled up on their nose and not over their mouth. Good grief.

Those that know me know I pretty much wear a bandana all the time; long before this nonsense came along. The difference is now I put a medical grade mask inside the fold so I have 4-5 layers between my lips and your vicinity. I do this to protect you and I appreciate those that do their part to protect me. Thanks.
The other thing I do is keep my distance. I'm a stand-offish kind of guy so I do this this to protect me. Rather selfish I know but I do my best.

Face masks and seat belts
There are distinct parallels between people being told to wear masks for the pandemic and being told to wear seat belts in vehicles. Some of the same arguments were raised way back when seat belts became suggested and then mandatory.
Health/safety experts and governments tell us to use both masks and seat belts.
Both are easy to use.
Both are minimally problematic for the user.
Both have been shown to be effective in protecting the user and bystanders.
A few perverse individuals refuse to comply.
The rest of us are left wondering about some people’s motivations.

Please explain further.
I have read that aerosolized viruses remain airborne for three hours or so and then remain infective for days, depending on ambient conditions. Do you mean that the particles remain airborne for longer or the viruses resist degradation for longer times?
Thanks.

By law in Quebec right now, you are prohibited from covering your face for religious reasons but it's mandatory that you cover your face for "safety" reasons. They literally ask you take your mask off to put a mask on. Long live common sense and logic!

I wear a mask because I do not want to be responseable for your untimely death, I do not believe in them and for all the reasons listed here, but I wear one anyway. If I follow the pack, then I am guilty, but your alive.

Was in town today and at two locations staff was explaining to patrons that they need a mask...wow the attitude they got...these people are just nicely doing their job and are not there to be abused...one young lady said to me he don’t want to mess with us east coast girls...I asked to pay and get out of dodge as I didn’t need that smack down...all kidding aside just follow protocol and don’t take it out on people just trying to earn a living amongst this uncertainty.

A guy told me he's not getting the covid vaccine because he doesn't know the long term side effects, then he lit up a cigarette.

To be fair, he does know the long term side effects of smoking!
It feels like society is constantly pandering to the opposite of smart though and have been heading in that direction for quite some time, I digress though.

No mayhem, just a total bummer in the surfing community.

Studies have consistently shown that transmission is primarily occurring indoors during "social gatherings". I have a hard time believing that people are contracting COVID in retail settings. Therefore, I feel that mask mandates are primarily political. Nevertheless, I wear the damn thing. If I'm preventing myself from getting COVID, or preventing someone else from getting COVID, great! If not, big deal, I have to wear a cloth mask on my face. I'm not being "conditioned", I'm not losing any rights, and I'm not worried about "socialist elites" and other ridiculous bogeymen.
Are the anti-mask "Karens" just angry contrarians? I don't get the impassioned opposition.

Exactly. I have known a few guys who won't wear seat belts. They don't really have a reason, just not going to do what they're told to.
It must be the same thing with the people who won't wear face masks. Like you say, just contrarians who want to disagree with everything the majority does.
A few of them bother to dream up specious reasons but we all know that wearing a face mask is easy to do and proven to reduce the spread of Covid-19.
