This is giving me some hope. I harvested a mule doe that same week, but have not yet got my results back.
Thanks for sharing.

I guess it depends how long they sat at the drop off location. We dropped off a deer at Cabelas in Edmonton the week after that, and had the results a few weeks ago. Apparently, they pick up often from the Cabelas locations.

Im not to sure about that. I dropped my head off at Cabela's South Nov 23rd, when I finally got my results it said the head was submitted on January 20th.
At least I can finally start making my jerky. A good portion of the meat was already starting to freezer burn despite being vac packed.
There must be some way to speed up this process. Even some of the landowners I know now wont hunt their own land because it takes 3 months to get a result.

It sounds like that is when the actual sample was received by the lab for testing. We don't know how long the head sat before the sample was taken, or how long the sample sat waiting to be tested. That is still better than waiting over three months for animals killed at Camp Wainwright.

Since the head was dropped off on November 12th in Fort McMurray and the email states that it was dropped off January 13th I’m assuming that is when the game branch sent in all the heads that were dropped off in FM. Crappy to have to wait that long but it’s a negative so I’ll take it!

Something isn’t right if it was freezer burning already, we have meat butcher wrapped for 2 years (packs that fall to the bottom and get lost ) that hasn’t shown any signs of freezer burn.

I just vacuum packed, I was not expecting to wait that long. Next year I will use saran wrap and butchers paper.

Does anyone know what to do if you don’t receive the test results back at all?

Just got my email yesterday, dropped my head off at cabelas in Windermere first week of December as well. Seems like the more wmu’s they add to the mandatory testing, the longer the results will take to be returned. The email said that my head was submitted on February 11th. That’s over 2 months after I dropped it in the freezer. Crazy. At least I can eat the meat now! Pretty happy about that!!

Man you’re lucky, this year our group shot 5 mulies, 3 have been positive, 1 negative and 1 we are still waiting on, mix of bucks and does zone 202. Pretty spread out along the battle river , probably 5-6 miles of the valley both sides

I was thinking the same thing. My fish lasts a year and my meat a couple when vacuum sealed

That sucks!
Who would guess by looking at that buck that it would have wasted away in a year....
