On the positive side, there are still Canadian teams in playoff contention, at this time.

I think they are all in “contention “ at this time. Maybe not Ottawa.

The oilers seem to have the notion that when they play teams lower in the standings or don’t have the big superstar on the other side ... they seem to think they can just mail it in and win. WRONG !!!
For whatever reason when they play those real powerhouse teams they seem to step it up a notch.
They need to learn to bring it every night regardless of the opponent.
It’s worse at home then on the road too.
Real lack of effort and commitment to compete as a whole.

That game showed alot of floating by the oilers yeash. Kosky wasn't that great either. Flames look more like a playoff team currently than oilers. Also will say oilers keepers have been pretty stable so far this year. Just the Oilers gf and ga doesn't bode well.... not many teams make it to the playoffs and do well with a negative goal difference in the regular season

no, i'm not a laughs fan, nor do i want to get involved in the insults that are being thrown around here........i was merely pointing out that mcd's interview was (in my opinion) indicative of his state of mind. i know he's making a lot of money to stay in oilerville, but it gets to a point when money isn't everything.

Agree on the harshness of the articles I have read. Sounds to me like they have placed the Oilers at garbage bag day at the rink already. Crazy.

No insults to sling just a reference to the Toronto Media that constantly claims McD wants out to be back in Ontario. McD is a winner. Always has been and with any luck will always be. He was one player that showed up and played against Calgary. He was flying. If anything his frustrations should lay with his teammates not the organization and I think he is smart enough to know that the players laid an egg against Calgary not the Coach or manager. I would be more worried if he wasn’t frustrated. I’m thinking it’s just a matter of time before Connor calls out a few of his teammates. Probably in private not public.
I would bet Holland is smart enough to talk to Connor on a regular basis to keep his “ precious “ happy.

They did this last year too didn't they? Wonder what it is, goalies can't maintain for the season, guys just lose the desire, takes other teams 30 games to remember how to shut down McDavid, other teams continue to mesh while the Oilers peak and then remain.....
|
Can always look at Deteoit if they need a pick up
I just don't like booing a team, wearing bags on thier heads, or leaving early....I don't know how many games I seen upsets in the last two minutes....if I pay 100-300 bucks for a seat...I own that seat well before warm ups and I am the last to leave too...get my monies worth cuz I just had my wallet violated.

Granlund and manning put on waivers yesterday. Benning should be back and hopefully we get a look at Tyler Benson in replacement of Granlund. He’s had good numbers in Bakersfield. Time for a try at the big leagues. Good Edmonton boy. Give the rest of the team something to feel good about.

We were afforded an easy schedule at the start. Now it’s gut check time. Unfortunately this club has no depth or substance so it’s gonna get bumpy.

Rangers tonight should be good. Couple of shinny new tools for Tippet to deploy. Hope the boys took the Calgary drubbing to heart. Time to reset and play this second half. Gonna need a little more effort in Jan than Dec.

The nhl should really think about going to 24 teams!! Just watching the penguins/blackhawks from 1992. Wow, that is how hockey should be played! There was more talent on those 2 teams then a whole division these days. For example Hasek backing up Balfour. Jagr on second line.
This was at the end of Trotters carreer. I watched this team at the saddledome, Trottier was still the best skater on both teams.
The talent level per team is so watered down these days. With 24 teams there would be no Lucic/Neal debates, unless it was in the AHL.

Those old games are fun to watch. I watched Gretzky break the all time points leader game the other day and then watched 86 oilers play the pens. Star studded affair to say the least.
I agree it would sure be fun to condense the leagues talent to 24 teams but it’s also a lot of fun to be an arm chair GM and speculate to any teams next moves.

I'm with you here. Hopefully Dri' has taken the lead out of his pants. Night and day from the way he was playing at the start of the season. Odd as heck

One more and he'll have as many in one game as the far better acquisition down south has this year.
