Rossi Ranch Hand
Finally got out and shot the Rossi today and was pleasantly surprised how well it shoots. My only complaint is that the sights can't be adjusted to get it shooting low enough at 50 yards. It's still about 6" high at that range. It looks like a front sight modification is in order. The little .44 mag definitely packs a punch.

Sounds like fun! I picked up a Henry Mares leg in 44 mag last week and was itching to try it out on the weekend as well, but work got in the way. Sounds like your Rossi is shooting not too bad!

Those are very cool little pieces. Would you consider it suitable for a bear protection role? Would the large lever make it hard to carry in a sleeve on a pack?

I think in 44 mag it makes some good bear medicine. I don't see packing being a problem at all.

I had the same issue with my Rossi 45. I took the elevation bar out and it helped but I'm thinking Mr.file is gonna come out and fix the problem for me.

you would have thought that Rossi would have sent these guns from the factory with the proper sights. Filing the rear or replacing the front sight to get it on target at 50 yrds on a new gun is unacceptable imo. Glad you like it though. Kinda neat looking things.

Ya, it seems to be a common problem for sure....not good on their part. I'll definitely see what they have to say about it.

Has anyone made the mistake of looking down at the rifle when you ejected a shell yet?
My buddy did that and rang one off of his chicklets LOL.

Well it appears this is a common problem and the two options are filing the rear sight down or spending $60 on a new set of sights. Kinda sucks that Rossi is selling a flawed product and not interested in fixing it. Oh well, still a cool/useful gun and at least there are a couple solutions to the problem.

Last month I saw them listed at P&D. I have a Chiappa Mares Leg in 44mag, beautiful gun, and shoots well.

And I don't know of anyone down here that would buy one vs a revolver. Guess when you can own handguns for more than just range toys it makes a mares leg kinda useless.

We take what we can get up here....if we could carry revolvers then we would prob not carry a mares leg either.

Didn't you ever see Josh Randall? King of cool, Mares Leg beats revolver every time. . And non-restricted north of USA.
