Default Lakers and the new Kayak

What a day on Cold Lake with the new kayak. Took me about an hour to sort out the kayak to how I like it for at
Least now. Then it was decision time, lakers or gators? Usually the lakers are not that turned on this time of year but the lake is about two weeks ahead of where it usually is regarding fishing so lakers it was. The bite was crazy and I was not ready for that type of action in my new kayak but hey one can’t complain. I trolled in 60-120fow with the apex trolling
Lure at about 50-70 fow depending on amount of line out and kayak speed. Kept speed at about 2mph.
Landed 10, lost a bunch which was my fault learning how to keep this kayak under complete control which came overtime, yup slow learner.
The weather was awesome then a storm rolled in so yup got to test it out in white caps which the kayak handled it but I reeled in and headed back. Kept it at 4mph for 5km which was a leg burner but better facing what was coming.
Not a bad first outing in my new kayak.
Next outing will be for gators!

Maiden voyage.

Most were good size fish, very healthy and resulting in some great runs making the reel scream!
