Beetle kill logs by the truck load
Short version - does anybody know of a source for either beetle kill or fire kill softwood by the logging truck load? Bonus if it's closer to Peace River.
Long version
Wifey and I are moving back to the Peace Country from the Yukon later this year and will re-assume our acreage. Part of the move will involve house renos and a shop build.
For these projects I plan to grab a bandsaw mill. I will replace the house's poor vinyl siding with board and batten. And the shop I plan to build out of log.
I have experience building with milled logs. In the Yukon we have a steady supply of beetle and fire killed spruce. Last load I picked up was ~20 cord for $4 000. This stuff is super nice to work with both for milling and building - it's dry, light and zero shrinkage/settling. Trucking costs are also comparatively less for the same volume of wood vs green.
