We left for the Chilliwack area on Sunday on a absolute fishing trip of a lifetime. Got in Monday and checked into the Coast hotel. Very nice hotel, checked the area out, tried to sleep that night but too pumped up. Had a great breakfast Tuesday morning, met our guide "Bowie" 7:45 and departed to a launch area. Got on the water, Bowie explained the safety rules, expectations etc then he opened up,the jet boat and we were off with ear to ear grins! Anchor, bait the hooks, toss the lines and then watch the lines. Talked sturgeon etc and then bam and I mean bam we were on, this beast launched itself out of the water three times, literally from hotel to fish on was 45 minutes, so a long two hour and twenty minutes we finally got this epic fish of a lifetime to the boat, a slow drag to shore, jump in the water, measurements 8'6" 38" girth estimated weight 240 ish....pics , a few struggles to hold this beauty, a kiss, a thank you and a release.
Got in the boat and my son and I were literally shaking, Bowie says you ain't seen nothing yet...that day after the first eight plus footer we caught a six footer, five footer and then another eight footer to end day one.
Bowie worked his magic.
That night at supper we started to stiffen up a bit
