No north american origin for the 410 as it was well known as the garden gun in England and europe and wasnt brought to north america until after the first world war in about 1919. Previous to that Stevens company had used a similar bore size on the 44-40 and invented a 44 shot (smooth bore) dedicated to brass shotshells in about 1913.
