5 favorite flies
Ok guys if you could only have 5 flies to fish with on a lake at any time of year what would you take, for me it would be a bead headed olive wooly bugger,a bead headed prince nymph, a back swimmer, Adams, and a H and L variant.
Now for a stream my five would be a copper John , a terrestrial probably a ant or grasshopper( not sure which probably ant) a bead headed prince nymph, clouser minnow, golden stone fly no make that a stimulator.
Target fish is trout any kind, size of fly doesn't matter just curious on choices what every one likes

Add the Doc Sprately, elk hair caddis, orange blob, a leech pattern and lots of different colors of the Stimulator.

For me it would be.......Doc Spratley, 52 Buick, Damsel Ntmph, Leech Pattern, Evil Weevil. A few chronimids wouldn't hurt either.

Adams, Scuds, Leech, Boatman and a PT nymph
That covers most of the hatches a Lake would have but if your up for it cronimids will also fit into there for the early season when nothing else is hatching.

Stimulator, Intruder variant, Evil weevil, Foam stone, Zonker. With those 5 flies I'm confident that I could catch a majority of the fish species in Alberta, from trout to mooneye to pike. Although limiting myself to five flies isn't as fun as having a terminal of flies to throw
