Default Edmonton wants to ban sales of pocket knives

https://globalnews.ca/news/10401448/...-store-knives/

Hilarious. Someone ask the UK how well their knife bans work!!

If the woke had their way, nobody would carry a leatherman or a pocket knife. I am surprised they don't call for registering kitchen knives.

I think it’s great.

Now to start a company called green eco slicers… make a Swiss Army knife green. Put a solar cell on the side and a led light. Donate $1 to save the whales and a $1 to support radical leftists. Write “diversity” on the other side.

Use rainbow metal for the blades.

Diversity video of people whittling carrots for a vegan salad.

Fast forward a year and I’m a millionaire.

On TV last night a women went into the store and when she came out she said she purchased two “weapons” not knives but weapons. So I guess I've been carrying a weapon since I was about 5 or 6 years old.

I sorta understand the concerns because of the area they live in. I owned a rental home over there once. But when the woke folk get ahold of this they gonna run with it. Hide your silverware.

So what do chefs use? How about butchers? Do they use knives or weapons made to kill? Are our kitchen knives made to kill? There is no end to how stupid the woke are becoming.

I feel that title is a bit misleading as I don't think this has anything to do with the city....

If they succeed, people will then go to the grocery store or Walmart and grab a butcher knife……instead of 4” pokes people will be getting 10”+ pokes from butcher knives and you’ll see a higher ratio of fatal stabbings.

The one moron says that Edmonton can’t ban knives, as that is federal jurisdiction; but the municipality can prevent retailers from selling certain items just like firearms. Funny thing is, there are retailers selling firearms in Edmonton. I am pretty sure P&D is legit and not a “back alley” operation.

How are people so ignorant not mocked by the media. That idiot should have been belittled in the interview and be made to look as stupid as he is.

The only law they need to come out with is a law that requires you to define “weapon” any time you use it in a story. And what exactly is the difference between a “weapon” and a “dangerous weapon”. Drives me nuts when I see those terms thrown around everywhere - in our company policies too. Maybe if they had to define it, they’d think a little about what it actually means. Or at least get mocked more for applying it to everything dumb they do. Good thing they’re using computers to write all these stories - that pen sure had a pointy end….

I actually laughed out loud. This is an accurate humorous take.

I've carried a pocket knife for as long as I can remember...and used it for a variety of things...not the least of which was coming across this accident on the highway a few years ago. Tossed my knife to a buddy, who was able to use it to cut the seatbelt holding the unconcious driver laying over on the front seat and dragging him out, thereby saving his life !! A minute later this is what the vehicle looked like....

Nothing more than people moving into certain areas of the city, because real estate is cheap, and trying to gentrify them and profit from the proceeds. It's been happening everywhere for a long time. These areas of the city have always been rough and attracted certain demographics, which have been made way worse by the city enabling and encouraging drug use, homelessness and crime. The city has allowed setting up safe consumption sites, open drug use/drug dealing in these neighborhoods for years now. They have stifled law enforcement's attempts to actually enforce the law due to woke race based policies.

I'm not saying that gentrification is necessarily wrong, however it usually means displacing not only the addicts and mentally ill people, but also the lower income residents that have lived there for generations. There have been multiple attempts to clean up some areas of the city with countless millions of taxpayer dollars since I moved here 30+ years ago. There has been some success but most of these projects have failed to do anything but siphon more money from taxpayers and line the pockets of developers and contractors with close ties to the city. I can't blame the developers and contractors, as they'd be crazy to not take money thrown at them by the city.

When it comes right down to it, this appears to be nothing more than the woke looking for an excuse to be offended.

Another quote from Christy Morin:

“It’s really scary because when you’re working in critical care communities like the Alberta Ave district and areas, McCauley, Queen Mary Park, all over the city, we are dealing with people who are using heavy drugs and you’re sort of wondering: how are they going to manage a knife like this?” she said.

Maybe the drug issues should be examined first...not the knives...

Wokeness at its best!...

I think it is a good idea. Then we can ban all cameras - that will eliminate child pornography
