2 lines for open water
Watching on the YouTube, the guys fishing east and down south could have 2 or more lines trolling. Get a stupid question: Why do we not allow here in AB?

Probably because we don't have enough fish.

There is a guy also on Cold lake Alberts fishing alone in his boat on you tube for lake trout using two rods . I text him and told him its not legal and he should take it down ,as they might charge him . He told me it was totally legal as long as he was the only one in the boat . Not sure if he ever got a ticket yet.
I remember years ago you could have 5 line per person ice fishing .
Now its two for ice fishing .
They should keep it the same for open water and ice fishing .
Maybe it should be 1 rod per season .

Tell him he's fishing in the wrong province. That's a B.C. regulation.

Send a link to "report a poacher"
Maybe they'll cut you a cheque.

The lakes in Alberta aren't wide enough for two lines.

Albertas had restrictive fishing regulations for decades. One line in open water, bait bans, no live bait, etc. Better get used to it.
Our regulations are 3 lines per person with six hooks per line. I troll 9-10 lines and often have 7-10 fish hookups.

And they say the demise of the Great Barrier Reef is due to global warming.

On a matter of the subject - I really do not see any difference when fishing on ice or open water so I would like to see 2 lines allowed in open water too. Always nice to have options to use two different baits and experiment a bit. Or drop one line in water with bait and spin cast with other. Back in Europe we would have 5 line limit but I never used more than 2 anyway.

Difference is that the lines are pretty well stationary during ice season, whereas you cover far more water far easier in open water.

Why back when there were no people in Alberta there were no limits, times change.

If you can’t catch them one, having a second line won’t help.
If you can catch them one, you don’t need two.

Dude,
A second line with a completely different fly on it could alert you to something that’s going on deep in the lake or on top. Are we not here to catch some? Or are we just here to say “It was a nice day out”?
Why would you not take advantage of fishing 2 completely different setups if you are allowed? As in fishing in a boat by yourself?
