Value of gmc duramax

Was tossing out the idea in my head of selling the truck and possibly trading up to something newer...but value of my truck would be the biggest consideration.

2004 gmc duramax with sle package.
Front bench seat with flip up console.
110,000 km
No leather, cd stereo no Bose system.
Quad cab
2 way remote start
Bakflip Tonneau cover
New windshield

Truck is in mint shape as I bought it 2 years ago with 49,000 km from a old guy that only used it for pulling a trailer in the summer and it never left the garage.

No dents or scratches...

Rough guesses??

Keep it. The new ones aren't as good as the one you already have. And you'll probably have to add ~$40k.

Sounds like a fairly basic truck. $10,000 to $12,000 most likely. You would be better off spending money on this one to get it the way you would like. Pre 2006 got the best mileage, newer ones are not so good.

I paid that for my loaded slt cc 4x4 with 272,000km. With 110,000km you could ask 18,000 and not feel bad..

It all depends how new you are going. After owning a 2005 duramax, having a brother having owned a 2001 and a 2007 Old body style and now myself owning a 2011 hands down the 2011 is the best truck followed by the 2007 with the 2005 running a very close third.

I would avoid the 2007.5 to 2010 with the DPF if you don't want to tune it. They are really bad on fuel in stock form. If you don't mind running a tune and a DPF delete they get great mileage. With the tune you should get just as good mileage as the OBS(old body style) 2007 and have more power.

IMO the 2011+ are by far the best truck build of all the duramax's. 400 hp and 765 ft/lb of torque, exhaust brake, beefed up frame, bigger brakes, beefed up steering components, stronger allison, and just about as good as mileage as the OBS 2007. It pulls my 12 500 lb 5th wheel like its not even there. The combination of the allison and exhaust brake I don't touch the brake pedal until I am just about to come to a complete stop as long as I give myself enough lead time.

The older Duramax's are great trucks and any duramax is a sound choice I just feel after some real world seat time in every version the 2011+ is the better truck. It does just about everything better except in the mileage when compared to the OBS duramax. It's close but not quite as good. Maybe 1.5L/100 kms more. Like I said my opinion is after actual seat time, not something I read on the internet.

You are going to get the guys saying that the Urea is a pain in the rear but those are the lazy people that will complain about anything. It's no different then filling your windshield washer fluid. If you struggle doing routine maintenance a diesel isn't for you or any motorized vehicle for that matter. My biggest complaint about my 2011 is the placement of the Urea fill tube. You can tell an engineer with no real world experience decided on its placement.

Beg to differ somewhat, my stone stock '09 gettin' 12/100 and 20/100. About all a tuner and a dpf delete would get me is more power.

So by removing the DPF that dumps raw fuel to burn the soot out every 450-550 kms isn't going to increase your mileage???? Please explain.

Agreed,...The 2011 Duramax is a way better truck than the older ones.

Mine has dipped under 11.0L/100K on the highway empty.

I know guys with older Duramax's and they never get that kind of mileage. One guy has a 2005 he got new and only has about 80,000K on it and he never did get less than 15L/100K empty.

Mine goes around 19L/100K with two Honda Rubicons on the deck and a 1998 22ft bumber hitch trailer that's gotta be close to 6000 lbs loaded with water, propane, food and gear...and guns and ammo..:-)..that's cruisng at 100K. Bump it up to 110-120 and the mileage gets worse really fast.

DEF?....you hardly think about it...my truck turned 40,00KM this weekend and I'm about to put the 6th jug of DEF in it in two years.

I wouldn't agree the 11 is that much better other than in stock form. I have an 08, and granted in stock form the 11 is better as it has way more hp and torque.

With minimal work done at a gm dealer, 4 inch exhaust and some programming I am now seeing 9.5 l/100 km empty and around 14.5'to 15.5 l pulling a 27 foot 5 th wheel with two quads on a trailer behind that.

Keep in mind this is driving nice at 100 to 105 if you push the issue and drive 120 I am down to around 20l/ 100 km

LOL, $10-12 with that mileage & clean is an $18,000 + truck all day long. I sold my 05 this spring with 103,000 km's for $24,000 in a day. It was full load. If you can find one like the OP's for $10,000 better buy it.

I sold my 07 for 14K with 340,000 on it. It was a crew cab with cloth.

Bought me a 2013 but the older truck was better.

Thanks for all the input...after thinking about it for a few days, I think I'm going to stay with the '04. It would be nice to have the extras on a new truck but I think for the extra 30-35 grand it would cost me to upgrade I could do a lot of other things with that money.

I appreciate all the help.
